An Absurdity

by mylifein100words

I recall when Starbucks was a relatively new phenomena and they began to open stores across the country and then the world. The outcry sounded like this, “Oh no!! We’re becoming corporatized. All cities will look the same now.”

When I got my coffee at Starbucks in Barcelona 15 years ago, I didn’t feel like I was in DC. I’m sitting in Long Beach, California today, 25 years later, and it feels like I’m on another planet.

The death knell of individual cities never rang. Individual culture and spirit lives on in cities across the world.
